Mysteries and Riddles: Ancient "Beads" Which Wasn't Made by Hands

Scientists have discovered evidence of an ancient collision of the Earth with an asteroid. Dozens of glass small balls were found inside the clam-shells. According to ScienceAlert, the "beads" indicate the collision of the Earth with an asteroid, which happened millions of years ago.

Scientists from the University of Harrisburg in the United States found inside fossilized mollusks, which age ranges from 5 to 12 million years, dozens of glass "beads" with a diameter of several millimeters. According to the researchers, this may be evidence of an asteroid colliding with the Earth in the distant past.

Shellfish were found in the Tamiami formation in Florida. Such small balls may indicate a large-scale volcanic eruption or industrial activity. At the same time, the formation does not contain volcanic rocks, and no volcanic sources are located close to it. It is also known that these mollusks existed on the Earth long before the appearance of industry.

According to the researchers, the "beads" could appear due to the fall of a celestial body to the Earth, which led to heating and raising debris into the air. Before falling down, it cooled and formed small balls, which are called microtektites. If this assumption is confirmed, then these microtektites will be the oldest, found in Florida, and the first those were found in the clam-shells.

Previously, scientists have stated that asteroids that are potentially dangerous to the Earth remain invisible to ground-based telescopes. The researchers arrived at these conclusions by analyzing the data from detecting near-earth objects by several observatories.
